The Wisconsin Horse Alliance is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization whose goal is to work together in order to make a positive impact on the horses in the state of Wisconsin. If you are a horse owner, caretaker or simply an admirer, we are sure you’ll find helpful information and tools throughout this site. Our mission is to ensure the safety and well-being of Wisconsin horses through empowering owners, coordinating resources, and educating the community. Our ultimate goal is to improve the lives of Wisconsin's horses and we invite your involvement in this endeavor!
What to do if you suspect Equine Abuse or Neglect?
1)
If you suspect a situation of animal neglect or abuse near you, please contact an animal humane officer in your area. Please see this resource from the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection for contact information of humane officers by county. https://datcp.wi.gov/Pages/Programs_Services/FindHumaneOfficer.aspx

If a humane officer is not available in your area, please contact your local sheriff's or police department.

If you are a law enforcement officer and/or are searching for more information on an abuse or neglect case, please see our "Resources for Law Enforcement" page for more information.
**While we would like to assist, the Wisconsin Horse Alliance does not have the authority to investigate individual situations of equine abuse or neglect, however we can direct you to resources to ensure situations are handled appropriately.
